This post will tell you how to install the Oracle 11g Database in Linux.
The installation of the Oracle 11g Database is almost similar for all the varies distributions of Linux like CentOS or Oracle Linux and Red hat Enterprise linux etc...
I assume you have read my previous post regarding:
- Oracle 11g database installation part 1 - Requirement Analysis
- Oracle 11g database installation part 2 - Preparing the System
Now if you are all set, then lets proceed with the installation of Oracle 11g Database:
STEPS:
1. run the "runInstaller" file
2. Skip Software updates by unchecking the check box
3. Skip the software updates and alerts by checking the Radio button as shown below
4. Check the option "Install only Software"
5. Click the Single Instance Database Radio Button
6. Select your language. English is selected by default
7. click the radio button "Enterprise Edition" which holds the entire Oracle 11g database features
8. enter the Oracle base location and Software location to be installed. If you have followed my steps, these values will be there by default. press "NEXT"
9. press "NEXT"
10. click the check box "ignore all" and press "NEXT"
11. ignore the warning and press "NEXT"
12. press "Install"
13. wait for the installation to be completed.
14. a screen will pop up and ask you to run a script in a specific location as ROOT
15. Login as ROOT and navigate to the location and run the script and press OK
16. Installation will be completed successfully
