Oracle 11g database installation part 1 - Requirement Analysis


This post will tell you how to install Oracle 11g Database in Linux.
Since I am using a 64 bit pc, I will be using all 64 bit software including the Oracle Linux OS and the Oracle 11g database. Please download the software carefully.
You will be needing any one of the versions of the Oracle 11g database as mentioned below.
I will be using Oracle 11g Database 11.2.0.3.0 for this installation.


you will also need a 64 bit Virtual Machine running Oracle linux 5 or Oracle Linux 6 to install this oracle 11g database. The time taken to complete this entire requirement analysis is 15 minutes. Please make a not of the components which are given below:

Software Requirement:

  1. Oracle 11g Database 11.2.0.X and above
  2. VMware player (free version) / VMware Workstation (paid version) or other equivalent VMs
  3. Oracle Linux 5 or 6 / Red Hat Enterprise Linux
  4. Putty
  5. WinSCP

Most of the softwares are available for download in the internet.
